Substantial progress has been made on the proposals made last year for the development of a transparent and active debt market in general and the government securities market in particular. Primary issuance of government securities is now being facilitated by an Electronic Negotiated Dealing System and efficiency of trading in government securities is being enhanced by the new Clearing Corporation of India Limited.
