The enactment of the Central Universities Act, 2009 was done

The enactment of the Central Universities Act, 2009 was done with the aim to establish and incorporate universities for teaching and research in various States. Currently, there are 16 Universities under this Act for different States but there is no university for the State of Maharashtra, Maharashtra is the land of social reformers like Mahatma Phule and Savitri Bai Phule and as a State it contributes more than 15% to the country's GDP.
